Behaviour Change Communication for the Promotion of the Use of Long Lasting Insecticide Nets (LLINs) and Malaria Diagnosis before Treatment

Under this project YOUDRIC as part of 3 member consortium, funded by Department for International Development worked in three regions within Ghana; Ashanti, Eastern and Central Region. The goal of the project was to reduce deaths from malaria in all age groups. YOUDRIC worked in a total of 600 communities in 30 districts.

  • Sensitized 2,515,841 health care seekers and sensitization of health care providers through a cascade of BCC strategies like house-to-house sensitization, group sensitization, radio and TV discussions, Community Information Centres, Football galas, school durbas, bulk SMS/voice messages and social media .

NO YAWA Community Youth Reproductive Health Clubs

YOUDRIC partnered with DKT International in April, 2015 to implement a Sexual Reproductive Health and Rights intervention in 35 communities across the Ashanti, Central, Eastern, Greater Accra and Volta Regions. The project commenced in April, 2015 and ended in December, 2015. The goal of the project was to reduce the incidence of teenage pregnancies, unsafe abortions and STI infections by providing access to Sexual and Reproductive Health Services and promoting positive behavioral change among young people aged 15 -24.


Key Project Achievements

  • Trained 70 community facilitators
  • 1,050 Club members aged 15-24 participated in educate session in 35 communities
  • 765 club meetings held in the 35 communities within the period of project implementation.
  • 17,735 young people reached through peer education while 587 reached through Interactive Theatre Performances.

National Behaviour Change and Communication on Ebola and Cholera

Funded by DfID, YOUDRIC together with two other local NGOs implemented this project across the 10 regions of Ghana. Under this project, YOUDRIC worked in 600 communities selected from 30 MMDAs across the Ashanti, Central and Eastern Regions. The project's goal was to have at least 70% of “at risk groups” in Ghana knowledgeable on the modes of transmission, signs and symptoms of Ebola and cholera and ways of preventing their transmission.


Key Project Achievements

  • Consultative meetings with district and community level stakeholders across the implementing districts and communities
  • Oriented 4,483 Traditional and Religious Leaders
  • Trained 600 Community Health Volunteers
  • Sensitized 1,662,868 people with information on Cholera and Ebola through disseminating of IEC/BCC materials, house-to-house sensitization by trained community surveillance volunteers, sensitization of organized groups such as food vendors ,drivers unions, schools, churches, and mosques. Mass communication via airing of jingles on radio stations and community information centres, community sensitization (durbas), radio and TV panel discussions.


Ghana AIDS Commission Project

At the end of 2012 YOUDRIC was awarded a sub-contract under the National Strategic Plan’s HIV Prevention Project of the Ghana AIDS Commission to implement HIV Prevention interventions in 15 communities in the Assin South District of Central Region, Ghana. During the first quarter of 2013 YOUDRIC conducted a number of initiatives in this region, including peer education, community workshops, condom distribution and outreach HIV Testing and counselling.
